The musical side of Autostrada Wielkopolska

Driving becomes more pleasant and trip seems much shorter when there’s music playing in the car. That is why, together with its fans, Autostrada Wielkopolska created a Motorway Top 15 that will help you relax during your journey while still keeping you focused on driving. Battles were held on the Facebook fan page of Autostrada Wielkopolska for the most popular hit. The resulting Top 15 refer to the road itself, the concept of journey and driving. More than 3 thousand votes were cast for individual songs. And who it the winner?

The themes of the road and journey are very popular in the artists’ lyrics. But this is not surprising in light of the survey “Road jungle – Poles behind the wheel” (by Kantar TNS) which claims 99 percent of Polish drivers listen to music when driving. The hit battle involved songs from different genres and eras. Each week two songs were contrasted to learn which of them was more popular among drivers. The fans were choosing in such categories as: Polish and international classics, Polish and international contemporary pop music and songs featuring a motorway or journey theme.

After 7 weeks of contest, the song that won the biggest number of votes was 'Old Town Road' by the rapper Lil Nas X. The runners-up were two international classics: 'Route 66' (Chuck Berry) and 'Hit the Road Jack' (Ray Charles). The best Polish song was 'Małomiasteczkowy' (Dawid Podsiadło).
