The substantial works related to the extension of the ca 5 km section of the Pozna\u0144 Bypass have been completed. Bituminous pavement has been laid in 3 traffic lanes in both directions of the motorway Bypass between the Pozna\u0144 Komorniki \u2013 Pozna\u0144 Lubo\u0144 interchanges. The works will now be performed on the Eastern section of the Bypass between Pozna\u0144 Lubo\u0144 (164km+100) and Pozna\u0144 Krzesiny (172km+000) interchanges. The new Temporary Traffic Management will be implemented from Monday 22 July.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From Thursday 18th<\/sup> July until Monday 22nd<\/sup> July works will commence on the successive 8 km section of the Pozna\u0144 Bypass. In the above period new signage will be installed and diversions will be arranged for. This means that drivers have to pay particular attention.<\/p>\n

The extension of this motorway section carrying high municipal traffic and the traffic from S5 and S11 express roads is huge challenge for which we were preparing already in the project planning phase. After performing the works between the Pozna\u0144 Komorniki \u2013 Pozna\u0144 Lubo\u0144 interchanges we are sure to have passed the test and to succeed in the next phase. If only the weather were favourable to road workers \u2013 says <\/em>Micha\u0142 Pabich, project manager of Autostrada Wielkopolska.<\/p>\n

What the drivers have to be attentive to?<\/strong><\/p>\n

From 22 July drivers driving the southern carriageway in the Pozna\u0144 Lubo\u0144 – Pozna\u0144 Krzesiny section (carrying traffic from \u015awiecko to Warsaw) will use the emergency lane. On the northern carriageway (in the direction of \u015awiecko) three traffic lanes will be available (without the emergency lane): two lanes in the \u015awiecko direction and one lane in the Warsaw direction. Drivers driving the lane towards the capital will not have the possibility of exiting the motorway in the Pozna\u0144 Krzesiny interchange. That lane will be recommended for all vehicles, including heavy vehicles making a transit trip in the direction of Warsaw.<\/p>\n

In the Pozna\u0144 Komorniki \u2013 Pozna\u0144 Lubo\u0144 section two lanes in both directions will be available both in the southern carriageway (Warsaw direction), and in the northern carriageway (\u015awiecko direction). Drivers will also have the emergency lane at their disposal. The third lane has already been built in that section, but will not yet be made available to drivers.<\/p>\n

The works between the Pozna\u0144 Zach\u00f3d and Pozna\u0144 Komorniki interchanges have been in progress. Drivers can use two lanes both in Warsaw direction, and in \u015awiecko direction, as usual.<\/p>\n

What will happen after the extension?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The works on the construction of 3rd lane have been underway since March. At the project completion the drivers will have a modern, three lane Bypass at their disposal. The put through capacity will increase significantly, enabling the capture of continuously increasing traffic flows from S5 and S11 express roads. The number of traffic incidents will reduce after the extension. Driving will also be safer owing to modern guardrails. The target length of the guardrail is 85 kilometers, that is 30 kilometers more than prior to the extension. A wider Bypass also means less noise. 28 thousand square metres of noise barriers will be installed along the motorway. 10 modern variable message sign boards will be installed on the Bypass to inform drivers about road traffic situation in real time. Moreover, the project provides for the installation of 13000 intelligent LED lamps adapting lighting power to the traffic intensity in the motorway. Such modern smart city solution will allow for more effective and economical management of lighting. The project together with all the accompanying infrastructure is planned to be completed in June 2020.<\/p>\n
