Introduction of winter traffic organization on A2 motorway section extended by 3 lanes

Starting Sunday, December 15, the winter traffic organization will be introduced on the Autostrada Wielkopolska between the Poznań Krzesiny and Poznań Wschód interchanges. Drivers will be provided with two lanes on each carriageway. Please drive carefully, pay attention and follow the traffic organization signs.

Roadworkers began restoring traffic on both roadways on Thursday, December 12. During this work, short-term traffic restrictions of up to one lane will be possible, especially on the southern lane of the highway (Warsaw direction).

The removal of temporary barriers and the change of horizontal and vertical signage will be completed on Sunday, December 15. From that time on the 10-kilometer section of A2 freeway between the Poznań Krzesiny and Poznań Wschód interchanges, the traffic organization will start taking into account the winter period, limiting construction works and the need for winter maintenance of the motorway.

As of December 15 this year, drivers will be able to use 2 lanes on each roadway. On some sections, especially those where expansion was carried out in the autumn, roadbuilders will carry out minor work that can be carried out during the winter. Therefore, the speed limit, depending on the section, will continue to be 80 or 120 km/h in these places. Weather permitting work will also continue on bridges and overpasses included in the 3-lane expansion. Further changes to the temporary traffic organization are planned for next spring, when it will be possible to resume the essential construction work – the dates will depend on weather conditions, and we will announce the details in advance.

Remember that the safety of road workers also depends on drivers. Please drive with caution, pay attention to the signs, adjust your speed to the road conditions and maintain the distance between vehicles in accordance with the regulations.

The extension of the A2 motorway concession section between the Poznań Krzesiny and Poznań Wschód interchanges began at the end of June 2024. The work is proceeding according to schedule, and Autostrada Wielkopolska SA is making every effort to ensure that the extension is carried out in an efficient, timely manner and with as little inconvenience to drivers as possible. If all work goes according to plan, the third lane for both directions on the A2 section between the Poznań Krzesiny and Poznań Wschód interchanges will be ready by the end of 2025.
