Heavy Maintenance Works on the Poznań Bypass

In the first half of September drivers will face two changes of the Temporary Traffic Organization in the sections Poznań Zachód (West) – Poznań Komorniki and Poznań Luboń – Poznań Krzesiny.

In early September the road contractors began preparations to further changes of the Temporary Traffic Organization on the Poznań Bypass. Since Thursday, 5 September the entire traffic in the section Poznań Luboń – Poznań Krzesiny will be transferred onto the southern, Warsaw – bound, carriageway. As of Friday, 6 September traffic organization will be changed in the section between interchanges Poznań Zachód (West) and Poznań Komorniki. There, drivers will use the northern and southern carriageway, with two lanes in each direction.

As of this Thursday, 5 September new Temporary Traffic Organization will be implemented in the section Poznań Luboń – Poznań Krzesiny. The entire traffic will be transferred onto the southern carriageway. The drivers will have 4 lanes to use: two Warsaw-bound and two Świecko-bound. In both directions there will be no emergency lane, with heavy vehicles and busses banned from using the left lane.

– Drivers should pay particular attention in this section if they intend to use exits from and entries to the Poznań Bypass. Driving from Świecko one can exit at Poznań Luboń interchange, however there will be no entry from Poznań and Luboń onto Warsaw-bound A2 there. Drivers will have to take a detour through Poznań Komorniki interchange. We will also close the regular Świecko-bound entry from Poznań at Krzesiny interchange. Access will still be possible using a detour through other slip roads on that interchange. We will provide signage to help drivers grasp the situation, says Marcin Szczepański, Site Manager on behalf of Strabag Polska Sp. z o.o.

As of Friday, 6 September new Traffic Organization will be in place in the section Poznań Zachód (West) – Poznań Komorniki. The westbound traffic towards Świecko will be using the slow and middle lanes of the northern carriageway. The eastbound traffic towards Warsaw will be using the slow and middle lanes of the southern carriageway. In both directions, between the interchanges Poznań Zachód and Poznań Komorniki emergency lanes will be available.

– We plead with the drivers for staying alert, especially during the first days following the changes in traffic organization on the Poznań Bypass under construction. With the holiday period over, traffic volume increases – this should remind the drivers of the need to pay particular attention to new traffic signs and signboards along the motorway, explains Marcin Szczepański.

It is worthwhile reminding that in the section Poznań Komorniki – Poznań Luboń the contractor has already completed the third lane construction in both directions. The third lane has been isolated with barriers and is available only to the contractor’s vehicles, which means than there is no entry to such newly build third lane to all other drivers of cars, trucks and busses.
