NEW TOLL RATES ON A2 MOTORWAY FOR TRUCKS AS OF JANUARY 2, 2019

As of January 2, 2019 toll rates for category 2 (two axle vehicles, of which at least one axle is equipped with double wheels and two axle vehicles with trailers), 3 (vehicles with three axles and also vehicles with two axles of which at least one is equipped with double wheels with trailers) and category 4 (vehicles with more than three axles and also vehicles with three axles with trailers) vehicles change on toll sections of A2 Motorway Nowy Tomyśl – Konin.

The change of toll rates on the 150 km long stretch of A2 will become effective as of January 2, 2019, 6:00 a.m. From that day on the toll rates for driving each of the three 50 km sections between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin will be as follows:

  • Cat. 2 (two axle vehicles, of which at least one axle is equipped with double wheels and two axle vehicles with trailers): PLN 31 incl. VAT
  • Cat. 3 (vehicles with three axles and also vehicles with two axles of which at least one is equipped with double wheels with trailers): PLN 47 incl. VAT
  • Cat. 4 (vehicles with more than three axles and also vehicles with three axles with trailers): PLN 73 incl. VAT

The tolls for other categories 1 (motorcycles and two-axle vechicles) and 5 (oversized vehicles) remain unaltered.
In order to respond to the expectations of the general public as well as those of millions of drivers of passenger cars, we decided that in the upcoming year we will maintain the current toll rates on the concession sections of A2 motorway for category 1 and category 5 vehicles. The motorcycles and passenger cars on each of the three 50 km sections of the motorway Nowy Tomyśl – Konin will pay the current toll of 20 PLN. At the same time the Management Board of AWSA reached a decision that for the first time in four years it will change the tolls for lorries. New toll rates would be nevertheless much lower than the maximum level set under the Concession Agreement. The AWSA decides its pricing policy based on the actual maintenance cost of the motorway, as well as long term investment plan and cost of servicing the debt. – One needs to remember that the entire risk related to traffic and level of revenues is borne solely by the concessionaire – says the press officer of AWSA, Zofia Kwiatkowska.

According to the Concession Agreement, toll revenues are allocated by AWSA in the first place to enhancing quality of the motorway by means of:

  • winter and routine maintenance of the motorway, including operation,
  • heavy maintenance – pavement structural overlay, rehabilitation and upgrading (in 2018 structural overlay in the section Poznań – Września)
  • widening of the Poznań Bypass – widening of the bypass to include the third lane in the 13 km stretch between Komorniki and Krzesiny interchanges, additional noise barriers and expanding the existing ones (works commencing mid 2018)
  • repayment of loans with commercial banks.

Neither the State nor the taxpayers pay a single zloty for our Nowy Tomyśl – Konin section of the motorway, unlike the State motorways where the State budget subsidizes more than 60% of the toll rates. Also, an important factor affecting the toll rates is that the tolls on concession motorways are not exempt from a 23% VAT. This means that our toll rates cannot be compared against those on State motorways.
