On 3 June at 10:00 p.m. a new motorway interchange Poznań West of strategic importance will be opened, with the consecutive opening of another interchange Poznań – East following several hours later.
These interchanges are the farthest perimeter ones in the Poznań Bypass which is thus extended from 13 km to 25 km. Between those interchanges drivers will enjoy a toll-free motorway.
Poznań Zachód interchange provides best connection with Ławica Airport and the City Arena stadium. The construction cost reached almost PLN 100 million excl. VAT. Since certain changes were made by the General Director of National Roads and Motorways compared to the Concession Agreement, 2/3 of such costs were funded by Autostrada Wielkopolska S.A., while 1/3 was paid by GDDKiA.
The construction of Poznań West Interchange commenced in March 2011, it was completed in its final layout which will permit future linking of S5 expressway to Wrocław without any additional extension. The construction cost was PLN 42 million excl. VAT.
The construction of Poznań East Interchange commenced in June 2011; given the proximity of the Nagradowice Toll Plaza, AWSA financed the construction of the third lane in 1.5 km between the interchange and the Plaza. The construction cost of the interchange was PLN 53 million excl. VAT.
The contractor for both interchanges is Strabag Polska, the winning bidder in open tenders for these projects.
The employer’s supervision was exercised by Atkins Polska.
