Two new petrol stations have been opened for drivers using the concession A2 motorway. On 31 March just past midnight petrol stations were opened by PKN Orlen to drivers, about 5 km from the border in Świecko. The stations are located respectively: at Gnilec Service Area for drivers heading West, and at Sosna Service Area for eastbound drivers. Already in May two new BP petrol stations will be opened.
Petrol stations were put into operation 2 years prior to the time limit agreed in the agreement concluded with the government. Similarly, the whole 106 km A2 section from Nowy Tomyśl to Świecko was opened to traffic almost six months earlier.
– We are happy to be able to open the petrol stations two years before the planned date, the more so that this will improve the trip comfort and safety. This May two more stations will be built in the new section of A2. The four stations in total certainly will meet the expectations of the majority of drivers to enter, and even more, to leave Poland with a full tank – comments Zofia Kwiatkowska, Spokesperson of Autostrada Wielkopolska.
Until 31 March this year the drivers travelling in concession section of A2 to the border with Germany could only use the stations located at a distance of 134 kilometres from the border, in Sędzinko and Zalesie. Westbound drivers could use the petrol station in Świecko which, however, was not available to drivers heading East.
After the opening of the two stations by PKN Orlen, two BP stations are expected to be built in the second half of May. The stations will be located 85 kilometres from Świecko, at Chociszewo Service Area for drivers travelling to Berlin and at Rogoziniec Service Area for drivers heading East. After the two BP stations are opened, the total of 10 petrol stations will be available in the 255- kilometre section of the concession section of A2, spaced every 50 kilometres on the average, on each motorway side.
